About the Golden Chariot train:

The train operates from Bangalore on two tour circuits. One is the seven nights’ pride of the journey in the South which covers Mysore, Goa, Hampi, etc. The other is seven nights journey of Southern Splendour which covers Pondicherry, Mahabalipuram and Kerala backwaters, etc.

The Golden Chariot Train operates in the months of October to March, whereas the service is not available in the months of April to September. 

Golden Chariot Train Route:

The train tour program is for 7 nights-

  • On the 1st day, the train departs from Bangalore by 09:00 p.m. Before that, the travellers should self-report at Hotel Taj West End (Bangalore) by 04:00 p.m. Then, they visit Chitrakala Parishad for enjoying cultural program for which they depart from hotel at 05:30 p.m. by A/C bus. Finally, they reach the Yashwantpura Railway Station, Bangalore to board the train. They have dinner after boarding the train.
  • On the 2nd day, the train reaches the Mysore station. After that, at 10:00 a.m. the passengers board bus for visiting Kabini Forest Reserve of Nagarhole before which they visit Mysore Palace. They have their dinner and stay at a lodge at Kabini during night.
  • On the 3rd day, they enjoy boat ride in Kabini River and enjoy the scenic beauty of various species of aquatic birds and after that they board AC bus around 09:30 a.m. after completing breakfast. They go to the Mysore Railway Station so that they can again board the train for rest and lunch. After that, they visit the Srirangapatnam Fort, which is famous for the battles between British and Tipu Sultan. Next, they go for free shopping, enjoy a cultural program and finally at the Lalita Mahal Palace Hotel they have dinner after which around 10:00 p.m. after that they return to the train which stays at the station itself the whole night.
  • On the 4th day, the train departs at 06:00 a.m. for visiting Hassan Railway Station. They arrive there by 08:15 a.m. Next, they visit Shravanabelagola to see the monolithic statue of the Jain Monk Lord Gomateswara which is 57 feet high, by climbing 700 steps. Then, they again go to railway station eat lunch and take rest. After that, they go to the architectural marvels of the Belur and Halebid temple complex which was built under Hosalya Dynasty in the 12th Century. Finally, they return in train around 07:15 p.m. and have dinner after departure.
  • On the 5th day, they arrive at the Hospet Railway Station at aroung 08:00 a.m. They visit Hampi, Virupaksha Temple, Elephant Stables, Hazara Rama Temple, Queens Palace and Royal Enclosure. Then, they go back to train by 01:00 p.m., have lunch, take rest and then proceed to visit the Vittala Temple Complex at around 04:30 p.m. After visiting it, the travellers visit the iconic architectural masterpiece of the Stone Chariot, after which this train has been named. Then, they return at train and stay there overnight.
  • On the 6th day, train arrives Badami Railway Station around 07:30 a.m. The passengers visit the cave sculptures of Badami, among which the 18 armed Natraja striking total 81 cosmic dance poses are the most imposing. After that, they visit Pattadakal Temple Complex. This day’s journey ends in afternoon itself.
  • On the 7th day, train arrives the Vasco de Gama Railway Station and then they board on AC Bus at 10:00 a.m. for going to the Old Goa’s UNESCO World Heritage Site which is famous for Portuguese Churches built in 16th Century. Next, they visit medieval Portuguese Building and do free shopping. Then, they have lunch at Resort Beach Hotel, enjoy sea sports (at the extra costs) or they can relax in the swimming pool or beach. Finally, they board the train again at 05:30 p.m.
  • On the 8th day, the train again arrives at the Yashwantpura Railway Station marking the end of the beautiful journey at 11:00 a.m.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. The fare for the children aged between 5 years and 12 years will be halved.
  2. A service tax of 5 per cent will be levied on prevalent tariff, according to the norms of the Indian Government.
  3. 10 per cent surcharge will be levied on departures during Christmas and New Year.

Inclusions and Exclusions of the Tariff:

  1. The tariff includes meals, sightseeing trips, accommodation on board, entrances fees of monuments, palaces, parks, etc.
  2. The tariff does not include phone calls, facilities of SPA and Business Car, tips, camera fees in the locations of sightseeing, laundry and liquor.

Booking Policy:

  1. During booking confirmation, 20 per cent of the ticket value need to be provided.
  2. Remaining 80 per cent of the ticket value need to be provided 60 days before departure.

Cancellation Policy:

  1. If the cancellation is done up to 60 days before departure, 5% of the total ticket value will be deducted.
  2. If the cancellation is done between 30 to 59 days before departure, 20% of the total ticket value will be deducted.
  3. If the cancellation is done between 15 to 29 days before departure, 50% of the total ticket value will be deducted.
  4. If the cancellation is done 14 days before departure, 100% of the total ticket value will be deducted.
